turmeric oat milk

liquid gold is taking the world by storm, & i'm jumping on its bandwagon! i wanted to elevate my morning coffee, smoothies & soups, & so i whipped up a batch of this vibrant milk, and let me tell you, not only is it beautiful to look at, it has a subtle earthy flavour, but it perfectly balanced with natural sweetness. but first, why turmeric? 

  • antibacterial properties
  • source of antioxidants
  • contains anti-inflammatory compounds
  • antimicrobial 
  • soothes digestion
  • improves gut health

what you'll need:

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric 
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 pitted medjool dates
  • a pinch of sea salt & pepper
  • 4 cups h20
  • 1 tbsp raw honey 

the steps:

  1. in a large mason jar, combine all ingredients EXCEPT honey 
  2. soak over night in the refrigerator or for a minimum of 3 hours 
  3. place all ingredients into a high speed blender & blend on high for 3 minutes
  4. remove from the blender and over a large bowl, strain the liquid through a nut milk bag or cheese cloth
  5. pour the strained oat milk back into the blender & add honey
  6. blend for 1 minute
  7. pour turmeric oat milk into a jar & refrigerate for up to 4 days

how to cook with it:

  • blend into coffee
  • use as a base for a warm latte
  • soup base
  • vegetable skillet base
  • smoothie milk substitute
