hemp heart pesto

Store bought sauces, the sound so good but look so bad (i'm talking about that label)! How many times do you find a pre-made sauce at the grocery store, only to flip it around and see that its full of ingredients you can't pronounce (is this even English...?). Yes, sometimes you just gotta go for it drizzle the dressing because let's be honest, bland greens are well, bland (ain't nobody got time for that). But if you have two minutes to spare (hanger level 6/10), then you've got time to make a healthy whole dressing that's full of flavourful herbs & spices. 

This hemp heart pesto features Manitoba Harvest hemp hearts, which are an amazing source of:

  • Protein
  • Iron
  • EFA's 
  • Magnesium
  • Zinc
  • Manganese

This dressing is a perfect substitute for oily pestos that are often full of fat, cheese, and sodium! Plus, its so quick & delicious and pairs well with SO many different dishes (think salads, pasta, zoodles, baked salmon, sautéed veg). So who's ready to get saucy?!


what you'll need

  • 1/2 cup of hemp hearts
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1 inch of ginger
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • pinch of sea salt
  • a handful of basil
  • h2o (to adjust consistency)

the steps

  1. Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender (I used a magic bullet because its a small container).
  2. Drizzle on your favourite dish & enjoy!
